Childcustody.org is a very informative website for families who have already completed a stepparent adoption, as well as for families who have not yet gone through the adoption process, and are looking for information and support before starting one. Not only does this website have legal information about child custody as well as child support, but there are also message boards, where families can speak to one and other about different issues that they are having in their families. From stepparent adoption, to abandoning parents, to custody issues, and even to blending families as well as the issues that go along with it, this site is a wealth of information for all types of stepfamilies and potential adoptive stepfamilies.

While the site is geared more towards families that have not yet completed a stepparent adoption, with its information relating more to custody and divorce issues, adoptive stepparents can also find support in the blended families section of this site, where families can post their current issues and concerns, and get advice and support from other blended families who have already had, or who are currently going through similar issues.

In order to participate in the message boards, you will have to register with the site. While the actual registration process doesn’t take long at all to complete, the administrator does have to approve your application before you can post new topics, or reply to existing topics on the boards. However, you can go through and review all of the different posts and replies before applying for a free membership to the site, as well as while you are waiting for your membership to be approved. Even if you are not interested in joining the forums, reading through all of the different posts alone can provide an enormous amount of support and information for you and your family.

There are many links on the site, all relating to blended families, divorced persons, custody issues, and all of the other legal and emotional aspects that families go through before they can complete the stepparent adoption process. The site also offers a free child custody newsletter which is sent out twice a month through email. If you are hoping to start the stepparent adoption process, and have not yet put a legal custody and child support arrangement in place, then this would be a wonderful site for you to check out. The site does have quite a few members though, so those of you who enjoy smaller forums, where close friendships can be formed, may end up feeling a little lost in the mix on this large, yet informative site.

With a large list of attorneys who specialize in child support, and child custody, arranged by state, this is a wonderful site for those who are just beginning to think about stepparent adoption, and the different legal steps that will have to be put into place before hand. Childcustody.org is a member of the Child Custody Network, which is a network that is dedicated to the best interests of children. With an entire network dedicated to the best interest of your child, it is definitely worth stopping by and checking it out. If nothing else more forums with other parents in your situation gives you a chance to meet and form friendships with others in the same situation as your own.
