This is a wonderful little toy made by LeapFrog. I am a big fan of their toys, as they are always as much fun for the little ones to play with, as they are educational! I got this for my three-year-old for Christmas this past year, and it has taught him the correct sounds that each word makes. He can spell about 35 words, and he is only three! He can spell words he doesn’t know, simply by sounding them out, and I believe a lot of that has to do with our love of educational toys, and the Fridge Phonics is simply one of our favorites.
The set comes with 26 magnetic letters for the fridge, the magnetic letter reader attaches securely to the refrigerator so you don’t have to worry about it slipping or sliding off, and it sings a little song for every letter of the alphabet. There is also a little music note button on the letter reader, that when pushed, will play the ABC song for your child. It also features two different volume setting, high as well as low. We are still on the same batteries that ours came with at Christmas, so I would say it is not a battery eater by any means. This set usually runs from $12-$15 depending on where you shop. Well worth the money, the songs are not obnoxious, children enjoy playing with the toy, as well as learning from it.
