This is not something that I had planned on writing today, but after receiving a heartbreaking phone call, I felt compelled to pass this story along to remind others that escalators are not as safe as we have led ourselves to believe. Escalators have become a part of everyday life, and people rarely see them as dangerous, or something that needs to be ridden with caution, when in fact in the past few years more than 7,000 people have been taken to the hospital for escalator related injuries.
Just this afternoon, my mom, while shopping for a birthday present for a friend, witnessed the horrid scene, and blood curdling screams of a young boy, about the age of five getting a finger... more
So what do you do when your kids don't, or won't listen, you are frustrated, and absolutely nothing is going your way? Sure you can get angry and stomp around the house, or you can sit back and do your best to find the humor in the situation. Laughing at how awful a day can be is honestly a great way to make the day better, and to remind yourself that the little things in life really aren't worth getting yourself all worked up over. Last night was a prime example in our household of how a frustrating event turned into quite a laughable matter when it was all said and done.
The boys have adjusted remarkably well to school. Each and everyday they come home happy, excited, and practically... more
A six year old boy from Anne Arundel County was discovered to be missing when his mother, who has legal custody of the boy, went to retrieve him from a scheduled visit with his father. She arrived at the home of David Kistler Jackson, the non-custodial father of the child, only to find the residence had been vacated, and there was no sign of her ex-husband, nor her little boy, Collin. Police are asking for help from the public in locating six year old Colin Jackson, and returning him safely to his mother.
An arrest warrant has been issued for David... more
Superstar Whitney Houston is in the news yet again. This time she isn't going to rehab, bailing her, now, ex-husband Bobby Brown out of jail, defending him in court, or any of the other usual antics that have occurred during their fourteen year marriage, that left most of America screaming at their TV screens for Whitney to get rid of the man who has been dragging her down for so long.
Houston was awarded sole custody of the couple's young teenage daughter, Bobbi Kristina, and has told the... more
Adoption is something that my family has always had an interest in. Before my husband and I got married, we discussed adoption and it was a great relief to discover that both of us were interested in adding children to our family through adoption. We both had an interest in adopting through the foster care system, and have taken our time researching both adoption and the foster care system throughout the years in order to be as prepared as possible for such a large life change. Anyone who knows me will let you know, very quickly I would imagine, that I am not one to jump into anything and probably... more
The kids have been in school for three days now, and for three days I have been absolutely lost. I have roamed around the house rather aimlessly trying to figure out how to structure both my time and my day, without having any kids around. The house is quiet, terribly, horrifically, quiet. Every attempt at leaving the house has left me feeling as though I have forgotten something, simply because I am not used to leaving the house all by lonesome.
The children on the upside, are adjusting quite well to school. My adopted stepson has had no complaints thus far, and the little guy is enjoying school for the most part, but is still having a little bit of a hard time being gone from... more
My adopted stepson had a wonderful first day of tenth grade yesterday! He was frustrated by the fact that in each and every class they went over the rules of the school, which means they were drilled into his head seven times yesterday, but other than that, his day went well. So far he has a good feeling about all of his teachers, and is coming to terms with the fact that his least favorite subject, English, is his first period of the day. We have told him that at least he can get it out of the way early on in the day, and not have to stress about it all day long, and that seems to have helped him to get over the initial pang of dread that he was feeling towards having English first thing... more
Today marks the first day of school for both of my boys. My adopted stepson was up early this morning, before the sun, getting ready for his first day of tenth grade. As if having a tenth grader wasn’t depressing enough, my youngest son began his first day of Kindergarten today as well. I must say that so far this morning, he has handled it much better than I have! I did manage to get all the way out of his classroom before leaning against the wall in the hallway and crying over the fact that my baby... more
After deliberately dodging more than $650,000 in child support and alimony payments to his disabled ex-wife and two children, for the past 11 years, a New Jersey deadbeat dad has finally been caught, by U.S. Customs while trying to re-enter the country. David Lerman, now 64, left his wife in 1986 and the two then became entangled in a court battle that lasted for years. During their court battle the couple’s home was sold for $1.7 million, and David Lerman apparently... more
Continued From HERE At that point I had done absolutely every step in the process at least twice, due to one error or another, either on my part or the part of someone else, and I had simply had it. I was frustrated beyond belief; I drove the children home, in absolute and utter silence. I called my mom and told her of our struggles, I frowned a whole lot, and once we arrived home, and I was in the safety of my house and my bedroom, my eyes welled up from frustration, and I cried. No, not sobbing, I’m not that big of a wuss, but I did have tears running down my little cheeks as I stood... more
