My birthday is right around the corner, and so is Thanksgiving. Normally by now enough things would have already conspired in my home for me to dread the upcoming holidays and the escalated behavior in my adopted stepson. All of his issues would begin to surface as the holidays approached and his feelings of anger, resentment, rejection, and being abandoned would be too much for him to bear, so he would make the holiday season as miserable as possible... more

Halloween was a smashing success again this year, with everyone having a great time, although quite a chilly one! And with that holiday done and over with it is time to gear up for the next celebration, which actually begins tomorrow! And I bet you thought that you had until Thanksgiving! Adjusting Holiday Celebrations For Adopted Children

After our first two attempts were thwarted by rain, we finally got the opportunity to go out to the pumpkin patch this weekend and spend some time together as a family picking out the pumpkins that we are going to carve up for Halloween. Halloween is the kick off to the holiday season for our family, so going out and getting our pumpkins is always quite exciting for the entire family.

My husband and I began planning our visit to the pumpkin patch early in the weekend. We had decided to go to the mall on Saturday, to get some clothes for our family cruise, and get our pumpkins the following day. Living where we do, there are a ton of farms in the area, most of which not only... more

My adopted stepson came home quite excited from school today. As I have mentioned before, he is taking AFJROTC in school this year, and today just days before marching in the town parade, he received a promotion! No longer the last rung on the ladder, but a step up to Airman, complete with pins for his uniform has given him quite the boost of confidence and a wide smile to boot!

While this time around just about the entire class was promoted, it doesn't matter to him one bit, it was just the boost that he needed in order to feel special, and feel special he certainly does. I stooped off at the local connivence... more

Last week I felt as though a cold was coming on just as I had kicked the last cold that the kids so graciously brought home from school. It turns out that it wasn't just a cold that was brought home this last time, but the dreaded flu! All weekend long I was in bed, sure that I was dying and coughing up my last lung, all while being terribly hot and freezing cold at the same time, it has been less than fun to say the least.

While I am feeling much better today than I did all weekend, I still have quite a ways to go before I am all better. My fever has been on and off all day long, fading away just long enough for silly little me to assume that I am finally getting better, only... more
